Evening Light
"Evening Light" — Grant Conboy 2024
The last quiet evening before everything changed.
The trees were full, yellow tulips framed the canal, and the city was doing what Amsterdam does best in the last light of a warm afternoon — glowing. Grant and his wife sat at the edge of the water across from their house, just the two of them, one last time.
Their son was almost here.
Evening Light captures that moment with all the tenderness it deserves. Look carefully across the canal and you'll find them — two small figures sitting together at the water's edge, unhurried, taking it in. The canal houses rise warm and golden behind them, and the sky is the pale blue of a perfect evening that you know, somehow, you'll remember forever.
It's the final chapter in Grant's Amsterdam series — from the first morning light when they learned they were expecting, through the nesting and the waiting, to this: the last still moment before a new life began.
