The Style

Delft blue has painted Dutch life for 400 years. Now it paints yours.

Since the 1600s, Delftware has captured windmills, ships, and family scenes in a single, instantly recognisable cobalt blue. I paint your pet the same way — not a copy of a photo, but an interpretation, built in layered washes of one colour until their personality comes through.

  • 01

    One colour, full depth

Each portrait moves from near-white to deep navy within a single palette — the technical signature of real Delftware, not a filter.

  • 02

    Painted, not printed

Every portrait is an original gouache painting on archival watercolour paper. No two are ever quite the same.

  • 03

    Finished like a tile

The hand-painted corner motifs and details complete the piece as an object — a keepsake first, a portrait second.

A Wall of Commissions

Every portrait joins the collection.

Each tile below represents a real commission — a different pet, a different family, the same hand and the same blue.

How It Works

From your photo to their wall, in four steps.

01

Order & send photos

Choose your size, then email 2–3 clear photos of your pet. Good lighting and a personality-filled expression work best.

02

We choose the reference

One photo is selected to paint from. I'll let you know if we need a better option before starting.

03

Hand-painted in gouache

Layer by layer, in Delft blue, on archival watercolour paper — signed by hand on the back when finished.

04

Framed & shipped

Mounted in a glass and metal frame, packed carefully, and shipped free anywhere in the world.

Watch It Come To Life

Every line, painted by hand — not printed, not traced.

This is what "hand-painted" actually looks like: a fine brush, layered washes of Delft blue, and a steady hand building up the likeness stroke by stroke. No two portraits are ever painted quite the same way twice.

It's slower than printing. It's also the entire reason a Rabbit House portrait feels like an heirloom rather than a poster.

Why People Commission a Portrait

"My goal is to make the recipient cry happy tears — and I do that best when you trust me to create something special."

— from every commission, every time
Also available as a memorial portrait. If you've recently lost a pet, a Delft portrait is a quiet, lasting way to keep them close. Just let me know when you order — I'll take extra care with your photos.

Questions

Everything before you commit.

How long does it take to receive my portrait? +
Once we receive your reference photos, painting typically takes 1–2 weeks, followed by framing and shipping. International shipping is included and tracked. During the Christmas season, order early — slots are limited.
What if I don't like how it turns out? +
I'll always check in if your reference photos aren't quite right before we start painting. Because each piece is an original, hand-painted interpretation rather than a print, I ask that you commission with the understanding that you're trusting me with creative license — that trust is where the best portraits come from.
Can you paint two pets in one portrait? +
Yes — choose the "Two Pets" option at checkout. If you'd like two separate, individual portraits instead, place two separate orders so each pet gets their own tile.
What photos should I send? +
Clear, well-lit photos that show your pet's personality work best. For two-pet portraits, a photo of them together helps me capture their size relative to one another. Send only photos you'd be happy to see painted — I choose one to work from.
Do you ship internationally? +
Yes — every portrait includes free worldwide shipping, tracked from our studio to your door.
